Staff Psychiatrist

Department: Adult Mental Health Treatment: Clinical

Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (DO/MD) required

· Active state medical license

· Unrestricted DEA privileges

· Working knowledge of CBT, DBT, and other commonly used psychotherapies

· Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills

· Expert in the recovery model of psychiatric treatment

· At least three years’ experience working in a mental health center

Position Overview:

Primarily treating adults in a residential and partial hospital setting providing services for the treatment of mental health problems

· Evaluate and treat underlying psychiatric conditions

· Prescribe and administer medications according to diagnosis

· Develop treatment plans, measure progress, and make adjustments as needed

· Collaborate with the broader team Oversee the medical care of clients in coordination with other Staff Physicians

Duties and Responsibilities

· Perform Psychiatric Evaluations using standard best practices

· Practice evidence based care based upon standards of care for individuals based upon their unique psychiatric history, age, demographics, etc.

o This could include, but is not limited to ordering tests to rule out organic etiologies, ordering psychological testing and or using validated screening tools

· Determine additional work-up needed to address new/underlying psychiatric and medical conditions

· Interpret test results and incorporate them into the treatment of clients

o This includes collaboration with staff physicians

· Oversight of documentation necessary to meet all regulatory requirements

· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for the clinical aspects of HopeWay, including DHHS and the Joint Commission

· Participate and oversee treatment team meetings to collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team, communicate team goals, intervention plans, and progress towards goals

· Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with other Psychiatrists

· Develop treatment specific programs centered around psychiatric needs using best practices

· Provides guidance to admissions on individual client cases regarding the medical and psychiatric appropriateness to admit
